The Winnipeg Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (WCSN) actively promotes
neuroscience research, education and outreach in Manitoba. The Manitoba
Neuroscience Network represents the cornerstone approach of the WCSN to
encourage communication, cooperation and collaboration among Manitoba's
broad basic and clinical neuroscience research community.
Since 2010, the Manitoba Neuroscience Network held annual scientific meetings
of neuroscience faculty and trainees. These gatherings have been received
with tremendous enthusiasm, attracting around 150 attendees each year. We are
pleased to build on this success by holding a sixth annual meeting in 2015.
In 2015, the meeting content will centre on synaptic plasticity, neural
networks, epigenetic and genetic modeling of CNS disorders, and neural repair
and regeneration. There will be participation by principal investigators,
trainees and invited speakers. There will also be a poster competition for
graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The 2015 meeting program is
chaired by Dr. Soheila Karimi, with participation from junior, senior, basic
science and clinical faculty. Thank you to all speakers, session chairs and
poster judges. Welcome to MNN 2015. Please register for and attend this
chance to maximize your awareness of the research quality and opportunities in
your community in an atmosphere designed to encourage social interaction.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Michael Fehlings

This year we are delighted to have Dr. Michael Fehlings, a distinguished
neurosurgeon and neuroscientist, from the University of Toronto and the
University Health Network. Dr. Fehlings is a world-renowned neuroscientist in
the area of neural repair and regeneration with a focus on spinal cord injury
The format will be similar to previous meetings, featuring:
- Visiting keynote speaker: Dr. Michael Fehlings, U. of Toronto
- Local neuroscientists showcasing Manitoba research
- Networking opportunities
- Poster session with trainee awards
